Therapeutic Intensive

Have you ever wished that your therapist could join you outside of the office? To support you with alternative actions in the moment?

What if you started to get creative with our own growth journey, listening to what you are drawn to and allowing that to change with each chapter of life?

Sommerville works with individuals to create one to three day intensives using experiential forms of therapy. Blending nervous system resilience, nature based interventions, yoga, and mindfulness, you will have opportunities to shift your sense of self by getting to choose, act, and feel differently in the here and now… rather than just think about doing so once the office session is over.

Nestled into the Blue Ridge mountains and along the French Broad River, Asheville is steeped in a history of health and wellness. Feel the oldest mountains in the world breathe life into your belly, let the third oldest river in the world wash away the currents that no longer serve you. The beauty of the feminine, green, and nurturing forest invites you into a gentle space of quiet, where the wisdom of your internal voice may finally begin to emerge.

Work with Sommerville ahead of time to create an experience unique to this moment in your life.

Sample Two Day Itinerary:

Day One

9am Start your day with an opening session at Sommerville’s office. Connect with the breath and your intentions for the time together, marking the transition into a slower pace for the next two days and unplugging

10am Head to local trails for an ecotherapy session amongst the trees, working with the natural world to deepen your state of presence as well as ask questions of your wiser self, in the form of the other natural beings, to see what insights emerge.

Mid day Explore a local lunch spot on your own for farm to table flavors and light fare, walk by the river, or perhaps take a nap in a hammock at your local hotel.

2:30pm Spend the afternoon in deeper Somatic Experiencing, tending to your younger self and the traumas that resulted in the patterns that no longer serve you. Finish this session with greater compassion for all that you have come through, your resilience, and appreciation for the part of you that worked so hard to protect you.

5pm Join Sommerville for a 60 minute gentle and restorative yoga session in her office, finishing rested and ready for a quiet night with a simple meal and an early bed time.

Day Two

8am Breakfast on your own either at your Airbnb or a breakfast taco from a nearby favorite.

9am Return to Sommerville’s office for gentle yoga leading into a mindfulness meditation of self love, taking an hour to practice bringing compassion to yourself.

10am Dive into another two hour Somatic Experiencing session to work with a specific piece of trauma or attachment wound from your past and identify how to shift patterns in the present that make space for the more whole version of yourself.

12:30pm Explore another local foodie favorite for lunch.

2pm Head to the climbing gym for an adventure-therapy session, applying the practices of body attunement to listen to and honor your needs as you try out a new sport, or perhaps hop on the French Broad River on a SUP, navigating waters with metaphor for the currents in your life.

5pm Sink into the table at the hands of one of Asheville’s top massage therapists.

7pm Dinner on an outdoor patio as you write yourself a letter to remind yourself of the pieces you want to hold onto from these two days!
