Mindful Adventures ~ Therapeutic Experiences

My friends and I had an AMAZING time on our adventure to Baja. Sommerville took care of everything. She created an experience that was the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. We paddled during the day, and slept under the stars on the beaches at night. It was wonderful being immersed in nature, completely away from civilization. As a group, we laughed and played and enjoyed the whole experience together. I can’t wait for my next adventure with Sommerville.

Rugged Renewal Retreats

The Rugged Renewal retreats are intentional adventures meant to strike the balance between challenging and restorative travel. With activities such as hiking and kayaking, we stretch our comfort zones and tap into a sense of personal power and ability to navigate times of stress. Equally important are the reflective and rejuvenating qualities of yoga, wood fired hot tub time, delicious cuisine, and intentional connection with the natural world. The threads of community are woven throughout, learning from the local culture and the gifts that each participant brings to our group.

Individual Counseling

Entering into therapy requires courage and vulnerability. It is an adventure in which we don't know the outcome and we can't anticipate what will arise along the way.  Our goal at Aspen Roots Collective is to provide a supportive partnership in this process of discovery and to help clients create new ways of making meaning in life. We bring an attitude of curiosity to our work and incorporate humor and authenticity as important components of the therapeutic relationship. Our belief is that by increasing self-awareness and cultivating acceptance, it is possible to change the way we relate to ourselves and others.

Mountain Biking and Mindfulness

Offering both Beginner and Intermediate Workshops with Sara Hunter (LCMHC, PMBIA Level 1 Coach) in DuPont State Park, North Carolina. Whether you are newer to biking or have been shredding for years, use the relationship between your body, your bike, and the trail to gain new skills for calming your mind, increasing awareness in the midst of challenge, and slowing down the trail. We will cover biking techniques ranging from braking and shifting to cornering and wheel lifts, all while weaving in tools for regulating your nervous system both on and off the bike.

We felt simultaneously supported and challenged, whether we were facing a difficult climb, a vulnerable reflection-time, a time of silent meditation, or a plunge into a glacier-fed lake! There were so many moments when I realized that I could look at things from a perspective I hadn’t considered.
